What Ya Playing?? 9/22/21

Image
What Ya Playing Wednesday?? It's time for the start of a new series of articles called: What Ya Playing Wednesday!! This series is a check-in with both you the reader and me the writer. I plan to have this be a weekly write-up coming out every Wednesday. This is going to be a community-centered series, where you can write about what game your playing and how you are enjoying (or not enjoying) it so far. More info about where to enter your writing for next week will be at the bottom of today's article.  So it's now time to ask What Ya Playing Wednesday??       This week I've been playing two games starting with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona. The first game in the Persona series. I'm playing the PSP remake of the original game. I'm at the very end of the game, getting my level up for the final Boss. My opinion of this game is right in the middle between boring and fun . I enjoy the visuals, characters, story, and gameplay. While the random battles hap...

Superliminal Review

Image
Superliminal Review  Developer: Pillow Castle  Publisher: Pillow Castle Release: 11/12/19 (PC) 7/7/20 (Console)  Platforms: Switch PC Xbox One PS4 Superliminal is a game developed and published by the six-person team at Pillow Castle. It's a first-person puzzle game based on forced perspective and optical illusions. Here's a great description of the opening from the games Steam page: "As you fall asleep with the TV on at 3 AM, you remember catching a glimpse of the commercial for Dr. Pierce's Somnasculpt dream therapy program. By the time you open your eyes, you're already dreaming - beginning the first stages of this experimental program." Now on with the review! The way you solve puzzles in this game is innovative. You pick up items in the world, for example, a cube. You then move the cube around and drop it wherever you'd like. If you drop the cube in the sky above then it will fall to where you are, getting bigger on the way down. If you drop it on th...

Happy Video Games Day!!

Image
Happy Video Games day everyone!! Today September 12th is National Video Games Day and to mark the occasion I decided to make a quick post talking about the games I will play on this special day. As always I’d love to hear from you either through the comments or my email: elevategamesmail@gmail.com, so please tell me what you're doing for video games day. Today I plan to start with Marvel's Spider-Man the game that really got me into gaming and the first game I 100%. Whenever I feel ready I’ll switch over to Final Fantasy VII Remake my favorite game of all time. Then to end it all I’m going to turn to my Switch and play some Super Mario Bros the game that saved the video game industry back in 1985. I’m going to end this post by saying thank you for checking out this site, it really means a lot to me.  I hope you enjoyed and Game On!!

GOW Ragnarok Trailer Analysis

Image
God of War Ragnarok Trailer Analysis  God of War Ragnarok finally got major details at the PlayStation Showcase on September 2021. Before we begin I’d like to say I haven’t played God of War 2018 yet. This trailer makes me want to go out and play it now though. The trailer (which will be linked in a comment below) starts with Kratos in a cave preparing a fire, then Atreus comes in with a deer. This showcases that Atreus can hunt by himself and that he is much older than he was in the first game. Atreus says that he is sick of hiding in these woods and wants to prepare for the upcoming war named Ragnarok. Kratos says he will not allow Atreus to pick a fight with gods, to which Atreus says he doesn’t want to fight anyone he just wants answers. We then see Freya fighting Kratos and Kratos on an ice sled. Presumably, a new way to traverse the icy lands. We then hear Atreus asking Kratos if there is anyone who can help them, Kratos takes this to mean Tyr - the old Norse god of war - but...

Spider-Man 2 Trailer Analysis

Image
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Trailer Analysis Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was announced at the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021. It got a minute and thirty-eight-second trailer that I went frame by frame in looking for small details, so you don’t have to.  The trailer (which will be linked in a comment below) starts with a shot of a streetlight next to Mikal’s Diner, a place that from what I’ve found has no meaning. In this shot there is smoke that appears to be coming out of the bottom of the streetlight or a pothole maybe, it is hard to tell. You then see a Venom blast from Miles hit the streetlight and then a goon comes flying into the shot hitting the streetlight. The screen cuts to black and we get a close-up on Spider-Mans Advanced suit with a few very small changes. As we see from a quick snippet of gameplay there is an upgrade, in the form of four iron spider-type legs on his back. I also think at 0:34 we get a look at a new power/move, I’m not sure if this was in any of th...

PS Showcase News P2

Image
PlayStation Showcase News Part 2 Kid A Mnesia Exhibition, at least I think this is the name. This reveal was very vague about details of what the game is. Either way, it’s coming in November 2021 so we won’t have to wait long to find out what it’s about.  Tchia looks like a very relaxing game giving you the power to switch bodies with animals. It may sound weird but trust me it looks like fun. The release date was not shown but hopefully, we won’t have to wait that long to play this on PS5, PS4, or PC. Uncharted a thief’s end and Uncharted the lost legacy are getting a remaster for PS5 and surprisingly PC. We didn’t get details on the release date but hopefully, we won’t have to wait long. Marvel Wolverine from Insomniac was announced for PS5. Not much was shown in the short teaser including the release date.  Gran Turismo 7 got a long trailer showcasing many new features and best of all it’s coming March 4th, 2022 to PS4 and PS5 systems.  Marvel's Spider-Man 2 got announ...

Refunct Review

Image
Refunct Review Developer: Dominique Grieshofer Publisher: Dominique Grieshofer  Release: October 16th, 2015 Platforms: Switch PC Xbox One PS4 Refunct is a game developed and published by one person Dominique Grieshofer. According to the Steam page “It is a peaceful, short first-person platformer about restoring a vibrant world” and I’d say that sums it up nicely.  Refunct is a simple game in a great way that doesn’t take away from the experience. Finishing the game is very easy and straightforward and the twenty to forty-minute runtime makes it a short but sweet experience. I’ve finished Refunct at least 5 times so far and 100% the game twice and that is because it’s so easy and enjoyable to do so. There are eighteen optional collectible cubes in total and none of them are hard to find. You just find them naturally as you play. You don’t have to worry about death either because you can't die anywhere in the game. This game also has a day/night cycle that syncs up with the mu...

PS Plus games for September 2021

Image
The new free PlayStation Plus games for September have been announced and for anyone unfamiliar, if you have a PlayStation Plus account you get free games each month as a thank you for using their service. This month has a good lineup of free games. Starting with the PS5 exclusive game - that you can only get if you have a PlayStation 5 - Overcooked All You Can Eat, the big collection of the Overcooked games. I definitely recommend Overcooked All You Can Eat especially if you are looking for a good couch coop game. Next up for the PS4 (and PS5), you have two free games and they are Predator Hunting Grounds and Hitman 2. While I have not played either of these games before I’ve heard great things about Hitman 2 and mixed on Predator Hunting Grounds, so if they sound up your alley check them out (it’s free). These games become available to claim on Sep. 7 and then you have until Oct. 4 to pick up these games on your system before they are replaced by the next group of free games. Well, t...
