Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct Oct. 21

Animal Crossing New Horizons had a Direct today unveiling what’s coming soon to the game. Here’s a recap of everything shown at the direct.

The roost, a cafe in the museum owned by Brewster is a place to sit back and relax. Your fellow islanders may even stop in. By using Amiibo you can invite your favorite islanders to stop by. Multiple players can visit here at the same time too.

Kapp’in’s boat tours. Kapp’in will sing you sea shanties on the journey to an island only he knows about. Mysterious islands he takes you to can be a different time of day or even a different season

Harv’s Island update. Harv wants to create a plaza with all types of shops with the help of his friend Harriet. You can contribute some bells to the cost, to help him expand. All types of shops run by familiar faces will be at this plaza as it grows. Everything from a hair cuter to a fortune reader. 

Group Stretching at the Plaza. You can join in with all of your islanders. Both motion and button control options are supported.

Island Ordinances. There are a bunch of these for you to enact but for example, the early bird ordinance will make your islanders wake up earlier in the mourning. 

Home and Storage expansions. New home exterior options are available to change the look of your home from the outside. Previously storage capacity could only be 2,400 at maximum but now it can be upgraded up to 5,000 maximum storage.

Farming and cooking. Cooking is coming to DIY recipes. Stuff you can farm includes tomatoes, wheat, sugarcane, potatoes, carrots, and more. You can use all of this food to make a delicious meal to eat or display. 

Pro decorating license. With a pro decorating license lighting and ceiling, decorations can be added to each room. Accent walls are all also added so you can now have each side of the wall in a room be a different color.

More Bridges and Inclines have been added. Previously the maximum number of bridges and inclines have been 8 each but now it’s 10 each. 

Pro camera app. Now you can change to a handheld camera mode to have a camera be at your eye level. You can then change to a tripod camera mode to be in the picture. 

Custom Designs Patterns +. Patterns that were previously used for customizing items can now be put on like clothes or used as flooring and wallpaper.

Island Life 101, a new nook phone app provides tips on enjoying your island. It looks like a way to help newcomers get lost even less in ACNH.

Gyroids have been added. Along with fossils, you can now dig up Gyroid fragments. If you plant and water them they will mature into a lovely Gyroid overnight. Gyroids make interesting sounds and can make cool songs when a bunch are put together. They can also be customized. 

Miscellaneous Additions. Nooks cranny will have new furniture. You can permanently place ladders on cliffs with the new tool the ladder setup kit. You can get this DIY kit at nooks cranny. You can now shimmy in tight places. Your islanders may now invite you over to their home and make surprise visits to yours. Nine new fence types have been added and some fencing can now be customized. Eleven new hairstyles have been added and eleven new reactions have been added. A ton of new stuff to buy with nook miles has been added. A storage shed that hooks up to your house's storage can be placed anywhere on your island in case you run out of space in your pockets. A new item called the ATB can also be placed anywhere. You can use the ATB to deposit and withdraw bells, in case you ever need some. KK Slider has twelve new songs to sing. You can listen to these songs on a new item called the music box along with where you could listen to them before.

This free update, Version 2.0 launches November 5th, 2021. This will be the last major free content update for ACNH. A paid DLC for ACNH was also reviled today and while it’s not included here I’ll have a separate article with details on that later today or early tomorrow.
